Skills we use every day

A skill is a short set of instructions that teaches Claude how to do one job well. Here are the ones we built, plus public skills from other builders that we use all the time.

From Fountain Labs

Made by us

Free to download. The first time, tell us who you are and the download starts. New to skills? See how to add one.

Planning

Spec interviewer

Claude interviews you about a plan, one question at a time, and keeps a running spec of every decision. Good for kickoffs, PRDs and anything you want to think through before building.

Try: "Interview me about this plan."

Planning

Grilling

Stress-tests a plan or design with hard questions before you commit to it. Adapted from Matt Pocock's grill-me (below).

Try: "Grill me on this rollout plan."

Is there a job you'd like a skill for? Suggest one and we might build it.

Public skills we like

From other builders

Free skills in public GitHub repos. Open one to read it, download it, or use it as a model for your own. How to add one from GitHub.

PlanningGitHub

Grill me

By Matt Pocock · MIT license

Claude interviews you about a plan until every decision is settled, and gives its recommended answer to each question. The skill itself is called grilling; grill-me is the shortcut that starts it.

Try: "Grill me on this plan."

In Claude Code: + > Add plugins, then install mattpocock-skills.

WritingGitHub

Unslop

By Lauren Tan, part of pstack · MIT license

Edits a draft to cut the tells of AI writing: stock words like "delve", forced lists of three, "not just X, but Y" and more. Good for posts, emails and docs.

Try: type /unslop and paste in your draft.

In Claude Code: upload the folder as a .zip under Customize > Skills, or in a terminal run /plugin marketplace add cursor/plugins, then /plugin install pstack@cursor-plugins.

WritingGitHub

Technical writing

By Lauren Tan, part of pstack · MIT license

A style guide for docs, READMEs, PR descriptions and commit messages. Claude first picks the kind of doc (a tutorial, a how-to, a reference or an explanation), then writes short, plain sentences that can only be read one way. It hands the word-level cleanup to Unslop, so add both.

Try: type /technical-writing, then "Review this README."

In Claude Code: upload the folder as a .zip under Customize > Skills. The pstack install on the Unslop card adds both skills at once.

BuildingGitHub

Skill creator

By Anthropic · Apache 2.0 license

Helps you make your own skill. It asks what the job is, drafts the SKILL.md and tests it on real examples. Start here when you want a skill for your own workflow.

Try: "Help me turn our interview scheduling checklist into a skill."

Already in the Claude app: turn it on in Customize > Skills.

These live in other people's repos, so they can change after we list them. Read a skill's SKILL.md before you add it, and only add skills from people you trust.

Try it in Cue

Cue is Fountain's AI for frontline hiring. Copy a prompt, open Cue in your Fountain account and paste it in. Where you see brackets, swap in your own stage names.

  • Find bottlenecks

    Where are my bottlenecks?

Cue looks across your active openings and ranks the stages where applicants wait longest and drop off most.

    Open Cue
  • Re-engage

I want to re-engage applicants who have been idle for 7 to 30 days. Tell me how many that is before we do anything, so I can decide on volume.

Count first, then act. Cue shows you the number and the message before anything goes out.

    Open Cue
  • Schedule it

Every Monday at 8 am, send me a list of applicants who have been in the same stage for more than 7 days.

Cue asks a couple of questions, then sets it up as a scheduled task that runs every week.

    Open Cue

New to Fountain? Request a demo account and try Cue with sample data.
